Here are the hottest trends for 2019
“Something old, something new…” may be a popular wedding adage, but when it comes to wedding planning in 2019, there are many new wedding trends replacing old traditions.
Trend 1 — Sunday weddings
on the rise
Weddings are becoming full weekend celebratory events, with many couples actually tying the knot on Sunday.
Why is this day of the week becoming popular? It’s actually a case of simple supply and demand, with open Saturday wedding dates at a premium, especially during the busy wedding months of May through October.
If you decide on a Sunday wedding date, be aware that people who have to travel a long distance or families with children may not be able to attend your wedding, because of work and school schedules on Monday. While it may be tempting to schedule your wedding on a long holiday weekend, consider the fact that travel and hotels will be more expensive at those times.
Trend 2 — Purple is the new pink
Your wedding color scheme will tie your event together with invitations, décor and floral arrangements. This year, say goodbye to blush pink and hello to purple.
Purple has been in the news all year, especially following Ultra Violet’s selection as 2018 Pantone Color of the Year. Purple can be a very versatile color, from light and airy to bold and dramatic.
Look for shades of purple in formal bridal wear, floral arrangements, table décor and more.
Trend 3 — Sculptural floral
installations are the hot new centerpiece design
If you’ve been to a formal wedding in 2018, you may have noticed huge, layered and textured floral installations suspended from ceilings, draped on walls or gracing reception tables. This trend is expected to flourish even more in 2019 as designers bring maximum artistic impact to bridal décor this year.
Expect to be blown away by these blooms which add dramatic visual interest and “flower power.”
Trend 4 — Bouquets feature
quality over quantity
Watch for more greenery and a handful of amazing blooms in bridal bouquets in
2019. Rather than choosing an abundance of flowers, today’s brides are embracing the beauty of greenery, accented with blooms like garden roses and peonies.
Trend 5 — Location-themed favors
Edible favors have been popular for years, but today’s couples are adding meaning to the munchies. Couples are choosing favors that focus on their hometowns or where they currently live. Perhaps a Fenton couple would choose homemade candies by long-time confectioner Sweet Variations, or a couple from Chicago might serve Garrett Popcorn or Vosges Chocolates.
Trend 6 — Brides go natural, classic
Brides in 2019 are embracing a natural look that highlights their favorite feature with a bold accent, for example, wine-colored lips with full lashes or a metallic eye shadow with a super-soft pink lip color.
Upsweeps that frame the face with a few locks, softly gathered in the back, will be the go-to look for brides this year. This will enhance a bride’s everyday look for this very special occasion – her wedding day.
Trend 7 — Interactive bars,
Specialty bars, like a tequila tasting or scotch tasting bar, are one way today’s bridal couples are offering an interactive drink experience for their guests. An onsite mixologist can assist guests in choosing different drinks to try and enjoy.
